Q: I haven’t paid for the Recital/Costume Fee. How do I do so?

Q: What does the fee cover?
Students get to keep their costume and the recital fee also helps cover the cost of productions, professionally printed programs, backdrops, student medals, sound technicians, and staff. We pride our selves on making this event magical for your little dancer and all families.
Q: Who will participate in the recital?
Pre-Primary I, Combination Pre-Primary I/II, Pre-Primary II, Com I, Com II and Hip Hop Kids perform for you to show off all they have learned through out the year. Tutus for Twos do not participate in the recitals but will have a Parent Watch Day on the last day of class.
Q: When does my child receive his/her costume?
Costumes and Tuxedos have been ordered and teachers will hand out paid costumes during class for your child to take home. We suggest, without removing any accessories, trying on the costume only once to see the fit. It will be wise to immediately return the costume and accessories back to the provided garment bag until the day of the recital.
Q: What do I need to bring to the recital?
Please bring costume, costume accessories, pink tights and both Tap shoes and Ballet shoes to the recital! Boys will wear their 5-piece tuxedos, black socks, black ballet shoes and black tap shoes.
If your tap shoes have ribbon ties please remove and replace them with black elastic.( Those with Velcro do not have to do this)

Q: I am not sure how to do a classical bun but I am going to try. What if I mess it up?

If you still aren’t sure about how to do a bun, or if you don’t think you did it right, we will have staff on hand on the day of the recital who will be able to help you put your child’s hair in a classical bun. We will even have extra bobby pins, gel, etc on hand on recital day.
Q: How long will the performance last?
The performance will last no more than 30 minutes. Unlike other recitals that last up to three hours long, and waiting that long to watch your child perform for two minutes, we focus our recital entirely on your child and the most comfortable setting possible, with a convenient timeframe for both child and parent. Your child is the star the entire time!
Q: Can I video tape/ take pictures during the recital?
Yes! We encourage parents to take video / pictures during the recital. Unlike other dance recitals, we allow parents to do this. Many recitals do NOT allow parents to take pictures/video, and require a purchase of a professional video to obtain a copy of their child’s performance. So, take as many pictures and video as you like!
Q: Can we take pictures with our child’s teacher after the performance?
Of course! Our instructors will be there for the recital and will be available to meet you and see your children afterwards. Our instructors are so proud of their students and love spending every week with them!
Q: Can I bring flowers for my child before or after the performance?
Yes! We encourage our parents to bring flowers to their child to give to him/her after the performance. This is certainly not necessary, but it is of course a nice way to show how proud you are of your child!
Q: Is there admission? I’d love for my family and friends to attend.
Admission is free! The more the merrier!

Q: I have a last-minute question on the day of the recital, who do I call?
Please call Ashley Bernardi on her cell phone at 202-316-3298. Office staff may not be in the office on the day of the recital, so please be sure to call Ashley if you have any questions on the day of the recital!
